Lyft may not be as big as Uber, but don’t let that fool you. Lyft has been keeping their nose to the grindstone expanding and innovating their platform. If you haven’t started with either company yet, I suggest starting with Lyft and seeing how it goes.

New rideshare platforms have come and gone. Sidecar, for example. VIA doesn’t plan on being one of them. Their business model has a different approach. Focus on high demand areas,have drivers follow a fixed route and pick multiple people up along the way, and offer hourly rates to drivers. VIA isn’t giving Uber and Lyft a scare yet, but they soon could be. As Uber and Lyft lower rates in many cities, lots of drivers are using all three platforms to try to increase their earnings. It’s too soon to tell whether those drivers are doing VIA just long enough to get their incentives, or sticking with it long term. Via’s driver programs have changed over the years, and these incentives may no longer be offered, so check Via’s current driver page.
